[glow=red,2,300]Ours is a house of a long, glorious history. In the days before Kahless the unforgettable, we ruled the skies of Qo'noS. We developed and employed a type of powered glider, one that was quick and maneuverable. One enemy of our tuq likened us to the great cave bat, whose wing-span was 4 meters (terran). This brought a great smile to the face of our headman, and he chose this "Terror of the Night" to be our house symbol; before long, the young warriors adopted wearing the claws of the bat on the vambraces, and the fur on the military uniform. Then, around 1,500BC (terran)/2,300 years Before Kahless {BK}, one of the aliens known as the "Furies" came to Qo'noS and happened along our tuq namesake, Gen. Vam'Pyr, who was out on a hunting trip.
This creature attacked the Great General, but fell to the Klin's superior skills. However, this battle was not lost with out a price....this "Furie" bit Vam'Pyr and in doing so gave him seemingly eternal life and a thirst for blood. But this blood lust and the carnage that ensued impresses the god (also one of the Furries) jagh'ghoS so that in his absences, he appoints Vam'Pyr to command the clan; we had already been followers of this 'god' for 5 centuries. It was this that started the tradition of Bloodwine....and to eat the heart and drink the blood of our slain enemies. It was viewed that, even by Klingon standards, these practices were just too brutal and gruesome, and we were shunned (mostly because of their fear that they would be next to please our appetite).
In 1370BC/2204BK, jagh'ghoS left Qo'nos to start a new settlement on a new world (known later as Planet VamPyr) to honor his clan and separate them from the others on the home world. Vam'Pyr has gained much power and many loyal followers during this time and is left on Qo'noS; his loyalist stay with him, tho, and the bloody reign continues....and by 1834BK, he is elevated to the status of a 'god'.
By 834BK tho, Vam'Pyr rule had been over thrown and he and a small band of his followers were banished to the qrI'Staq Volcano. For the next two centuries, they would reform their order studying the mystic ways.
While meditating one night, Vam'Pyr has a vision of a warrior to come, a great warrior of the people called qey'lIS. In this vision, qey'lIS gives him a choice of honor, or death. He chooses honor and teaches these concepts to the rest of the clan; by 334BK, he has overcome his thirst for blood.
In 837, Vam'Pyr was in the service of qey'lIS and, during a battle with the forces of yatron, molor's second son, qey'lIS suffered a mortal wound. Having lost too much blood to survive, Vam'Pyr mixed his with that of the future Emporer. This exchange throws qey'lIS into a vision of his own in which his lost parmakay, kellein, appears. In this dream, she warns him of the treachery of edronh's, and gives him instructions to forge a new weapon, the betleH, more commonly known as the batlh'etlh (sword of honor) which will help him over-throw the tyrant in his own castle; he has the metalsmith toragh construct it. It is unknown whether this blood exchange has effected his life span or not.
In the year of qey'lIS 539, the Hur'q (outsider) invaded the home world. They were what was left of the Furries after their defeat around 2700BC, coming to rescue their individual brethren that had been stranded on planets spread across the Alpha Quadrant. They ravaged and pillaged Qo'noS, but we drove them out. House Vampyr obtained one of their crashed vessels and studied it for many years to come.
In 1756, tuq tSepeS decided to leave the home world with Vam'Pyr and locate jagh'ghoS. When Vam'Pyr found him, he converted jagh'ghoS to the ways of qey'lIS.

My family comes from a line of warriors, and privateers. I was born on vampayr, a planet between thlIngan and romuluSngan loch. All of the tlhIganpu' that call this isolated world home came here because of the fear that other Klingon's had of us. It was us that started the tradition of Bloodwine....and to eat the heart and drink the blood of our slain enemies. It was viewed that, even by Klingon standards, these practices were just too brutal and gruesome, and we were shunned (mostly because of their fear that they would be next to please our appetite).
So we left our home world, Qo'noS, after the Hur'q were driven out. We took their ships and headed out into the cold emptiness of space, until we finally came upon this planet, which we named vam'payr, and it was a good world to have. The indigenous wildlife there is ferocious, worthy of hunt and fulfilling to the belly. The climate is hard but an excellent trainer of the warrior; it's cold will teach you to keep warm from the power of the mind alone, it's heat will test your soul. Rains that rival those of ferenginar will test the patience of any man and droughts that endow all that it touches the knowledge of self-denial.
And so we stayed, for many generations; surviving off the land, reshaping it to meet our needs. And the raids....oh the glorious stories of how we battled with those that had shunned us! Many songs were sung to honor their dead; but that is what they were, everytime...DEAD
And then one day, we learned of the Romulans. One of their early ships, not even warp capable, found it's way to our world....and their disrupter's found our homes. We fought them hard and won, but they were able to send out a distress call before they met their fate, and we knew more would return. We saw this coming and had already warned the old rivals in the Empire. It was decided that we reestablish relations with them and in return would be linked once again to the Glory of the Empire. And we would become an outpost to give warning to the next invasion of Klingon space; and so the wars with Romulus began.
My father, DaHvit, was killed early in these wars. When I came of age not long after, I also joined the fight. I was there for the final defeat of these petaQpu'.
I soon took a mate afterwards, having earned enough honor and respect. There were be'mey all around, but only one was glorious enough to start the fires within my heart...and so it was that tavana came to my house, and became my be'naloy....but even her love was not enough to overcome the boredom of the slow pace of peace. After some years and the death of my mother, I heard the call of a new adventure......
.......and so I came to be called into service once again for ....
.......The Empire......[/glow]
